When reading, the technique of connotation is used; Hosseini uses the term "enchanting" to describe the words of the Koran. This provides the reader with the a positive outlook towards the Koran, and gives the sense that Koran's words are more than just text on a page; they connect with whomever reads it and provide wisdom. It becomes very clear that the words in the Koran to their culture are a common place for people to fall back on when they need advice or guidance. This is emphasized by the very line Faizullah speaks saying "They will help you in your time of need."
